- The official DeepSeek Harness desktop app ships only for macOS and Windows, leaving Linux users to fall back to the web build or compile from source — there is no “download it, install it, update it” path.
- This project is a downstream fork focused on treating Linux as a community-supported platform: every build produces an AppImage (single file, in-app auto-update), a .deb (native Debian/Ubuntu package management) and a .tar.gz (portable, unpack and run), for both x64 and arm64 (including Raspberry Pi 5, ARM servers and Linux on Apple Silicon).
- Artifacts are built by native CI on
ubuntu-24.04/ubuntu-24.04-armrunners; the AppImage updates over HTTPS viaelectron-updaterwith sha512 verification from the update descriptor. - The agent core, plugin system, networking and frontend all follow upstream — no kernel modifications. Distributed under MIT, and it also supports self-hosted
dsh webso your data stays on your machine.
Who it’s for
- Linux desktop users on Ubuntu/Debian, Raspberry Pi 5 or ARM servers who want the DSH desktop client rather than a browser tab.
- Privacy-sensitive or intranet users who want to run
dsh webor the desktop client locally and keep data on-device. - Developers who want to build from source or study a working Linux packaging setup (electron-builder config, CI workflows, POSIX launcher compatibility, smoke-test scripts).
Caveats
- Unsigned builds: the Linux packages carry no code signing, and AppImage auto-update relies only on HTTPS plus the sha512 declared in the feed metadata — do not use it in high-trust scenarios. Download only from this repo’s Releases and verify
SHA256SUMS.txt. - Office document conversion is missing: DOCX/XLSX/PPTX → PDF depends on LibreOffice Kit native bindings that are not bundled yet; all other desktop features work.
- Not an official project: it rebases onto upstream on an rc cadence, so it can lag behind and miss some upstream files; do not assume it tracks the official repo commit for commit.
